Rs 1.2 crore financial assistance disbursed to registered construction workers in Udhampur: DC•

UDHAMPUR : Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib today disbursed financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 1.20 crore (One Crore Twenty Lakh Only) @ Rs 1000 each to 12000 active registered construction workers of the District Udhampur. The financial assistance of Rs. 1000 is being provided to each worker for the Month of May and June by the UT Government to help them to tide over difficulties amid the Covid Lockdown.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Pradyot Gupta informed that the financial assistance has been provided by the Labour Department under Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) for the Month of May. He added that the amount was released to the construction workers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
The move has been made following the announcement made by Lt. Governor, J&K, Manoj Sinha for providing financial assistance to the registered construction workers as Covid relief for two months amid the second wave.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur hailed the Labour department for its proactive efforts in providing quick relief to poor labourers.
