Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference(JK_BADC), a registered organization working for the welfare of people of border areas has demanded special audit of funds used during last 5 years for repair, renovation, construction of new sports infrastructure in border district Poonch. The organization demanded a special audit for the government funds used in any kind of sports infrastructure activity.
During an interaction with local sportspersons of the district Poonch, Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, former Vice Chancellor and Chairman of JK-BADC said the present sports infrastructure in district Poonch is unsuitable for conducting indoor and outdoor games. The former VC informed that he has been apprised by the local sportsperson including female players who do not wish to be named that funds worth millions of rupees have been released by the government under different central and J & K government schemes but on ground nothing has been done.
Dr Shazad said this is injustice with the local talented players who are capable of bringing laurels at National and International Level but who are deprived even of basic training centers and adequate facilities. He demanded immediate up gradation of sports infrastructure in the border district.
He also apprised that JK-BADC would formally submit a detailed report to the concerned officers of the sports authorities and highlight the discrepancies. He also urged the Deputy Commissioner Poonch and District Sports officer Poonch to publish a list of all government sports facilities available( Indoor & Outdoor) for players and their daily opening and closing timing and schedule.
