The NSS unit of Govt. College 0f Engineering & Technology, Jammu in collaboration with Co-Curricular activity cell started 2-days Workshop on the theme “Yoga for Humanity” in order to commemorate 8th International Yoga Day 2022 and as a part of Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) launched by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The workshop was inaugurated by worthy Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma. In her inaugural address she said, Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action and create harmony between man and nature. It’s a holistic approach to health and well-being. It’s not just about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. On day one of the workshop, the guest speaker and instructor was Ms. Jaanvi Sharma of GCET who is also a yoga nationalist and Yoga expert. In her talk she explained the importance of science of yoga consisting of various asanas and kriya which are very helpful in rejuvenation of mind and body. She also told the participants that Yoga is also beneficial for our health and day to day routine work as it reduces the tension, stress and work pressure. She performed different kind of Yoga asanas and participants followed her with great enthusiasm and zeal. Dr. Veena Rani, HOD humanities also spoke about different pranayam on the occasion. The event was organized by NSS volunteers Mandeep Singh, Gazanfar, Mohd. Sami, Rakshant, Jashan, Sanjeev and Rohit under the guidance of Er. Vishal Vaid Dr. Neerupma and Dr. Raman Gupta (NSS P.O GCET). He also told that people from all walks of life can practice yoga and increasingly yoga is emerging as the most friendly and trusted way to keep fit and healthy. All the participants will be given certificates for the event.
