Carpet weaving unit Soaf Shali Anantnag Empowers for youth to earn their livelihood
Anantnag: A group of 20 carpet weavers (Girls) from Soaf Shali and adjacent Village in Anantnag district independently initiated carpet weaving as an income generation activity.Carpet weaving unit in Soaf Shali established by iict under Mpc / Fdc scheme for Artisans Livelihood Enhancement and Empowerment.
Government institutions such as Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) and were helped to avail Weaver Registration Cards. Further, they were provided training on advanced weaving technology and were linked with welfare schemes to procure raw materials at subsidized rate.
Soaf Shali a far flung area in district Anantnag. A carpet weaving center was established in 2019 in which dozens of girls get registered in beginning and get free training on wool Carpeting. After getting six months of training were provided through skill upgradation training they start work on Silk carpet weaving.
Meanwhile talking with unit instructor Mukhtar ahmad he told The that at least twenty girls are working in unit and are well trained.Center was establised in 2019 and we focuss to boost the artisans to earn for their daily livelihood as an dependent and infrastructure provided by government also well maintained for artisans.
