Fire damages several vegetables wagons in Handwara
Handwara: A massive fire on Sunday late night damaged several vegetable carts at a vegetable market in Handwara town in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to eyewitnesses, a massive fire engulfed around 9:30 PM at the vegetable market in Handwara and scores of vegetable carts gutted in the incident. However, no one was hurt in the mishap.
The eye witnesses said that soon after the massive fire erupted in the market Handwara Police, locals and the fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames till they managed to bring the fire under control several carts were gutted.
General Secretary Traderes federation handwara Sheikh Shazad while talking to media said that those who lost their carts in the blaze are poor people, he said added that due to lockdown from last year they have suffered a lot already and now they lost their hope as well, he has urged the district administration to rehabilitate them at the earliest given Covid-19 Pandemic.
An official talking to said more than a dozen street carts have been damaged in the fire incidents and they are accessing the loss.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer also confirmed the fire incident and said the cause of the fire is yet to be known and they are investigating it.
