JKBADC Mourns Loss of Lives in Udhampur–Ramnagar Bus Accident

Jammu, 21/Apr/2026:

The Jammu & Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JK_BADC), a registered organisation working for the welfare of border areas and tribal population of Jammu & Kashmir, expresses deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident on the Udhampur-Ramnagar road, in which, as reported, over 20 people have lost their lives and several others have been seriously injured.

The untimely loss of innocent citizens has caused immense grief. JKBADC extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Dr. Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of JKBADC & Former Vice Chancellor, said the incident is highly unfortunate and reflects serious gaps in enforcement on hilly roads. 

He stressed that such recurring tragedies cannot be ignored and require immediate corrective action.

The BADC Chairman urged the administration to conduct a fair and time-bound inquiry into the matter.

He further urged that responsibility must be fixed on concerned authorities, particularly in cases of overloading, poor vehicle fitness, and weak monitoring by RTO and Traffic Police.

There is a clear need to strengthen safety measures and enforcement on such hilly roads, including the Udhampur–Ramnagar stretch, to prevent such tragedies in future. JKBADC stands in solidarity with the affected families in this hour of grief.
