Dr Shazad Demands Third Party Audit of Water Supply Schemes in Mendhar

Jammu, 07/March/2022: Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference, JK-BADC a registered organization working for the welfare of residents of border areas of J & K has demanded third party audit of all water supply schemes run by Jal Shakti department ( formerly known as PHE) in all the three blocks of border town mendhar including Balakote, Mankote and Mendhar block.

The organization has alleged that over 50 percent water supply schemes there in Sub Division Mendhar under the control of Jal Shakti department are either totally defunct or partially working causing lot of inconvenience to the residents of these areas.

Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, former Vice Chancellor and Chairperson of the JK-BADC urged the Commissioner/ Secretary Jal Shakti Department and Deputy Commissioner Poonch to hold a ‘third party audit’ of all the drinking water supply schemes run by PHE department in sub division Mendhar and compare the result with amount spent by the Jammu and Kashmir government under different heads.

The BADC Chairperson alleged that despite liberal funding by the government of India and also despite providing millions of rupees each year for providing clean drinking water to the border residents, the unfortunate people of block Mankote, Mendhar and Balakote are deprived of their right to have clean drinking water. Dr Shazad also expressed his anger over the wall stoning of data and information by Jal Shakti department of Poonch regarding expenditure incurred on the ongoing scheme of ‘ Har Ghar Nal Yojna’ the flagship scheme of Government of India. He urged the DC Poonch to immediately rush a team of Officers in Sub Division Mendhar to access first hand information regarding the condition of water supply schemes there and to interact with the peoples.
