Transformer not properly installed, officials neglecting; allege locals residents
Ganderbal : The residents of Wani Mohalla Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are up in arms against the power development department (PDD) after their electric transformer develops technical snags regularly.
According to news agency-Current news of India (CNI), the transformer was damaged third time in ten days due to which whole area is reeling under darkness.
They said that power development department has miserably failed to repair their transformer fully as it develop technical snags frequently.
Local residents alleged that department is wasting money in repairing it again and again instead of changing few metres of wire which can may be solve the problem.
Reports reaching CNI said that the “63 KV transformer was upgraded to 100 KV in 2012 and then it was upgraded to 250 in year 2016 but unfortunately old electric poles and LT line was not changed”
He said that officials assured them dozens of times to change the LT line but nothing was done, a local resident of Wani Mohalla told CNI
A local resident complained through News Agency CNI, that “Our transformer was damaged and later it was shifted to PDD workshop at Ganderbal where engineers repaired it and later it was installed, however only after few days it was again damaged and then shifted to departmental workshop again where engineers repair it and it got again damaged resulting the villagers came under dark again”.
Another local said that they are paying their monthly tariffs in time but the department fails to provide them the electricity.
He said that they approached the concern department so many times for few metres of wire but department is not exchanging it, due to which the people in the area are under dark in this cold winter.
Locals alleged that HT line passing through this area is another hindrance which needs repairing and it touches with trees which is causing hardships.
Meanwhile, Locals appeals LG JK Manoj Sinha, Divisional Commissioner and Chief Engineer PDD look into this matter as to why the wires and power poles were not replaced if the transformer was upgraded twice, adding that PDD officials and there may be a nexus between the contractors ,Who have installed transformer in this area.
